Caring for Carcinoid Foundation - Chicago Marathon

2010 MD Anderson SCOPE 5K and 1K Fun Run/Walk

Join Team Caring for Carcinoid in MD Anderson's SCOPE Race on March 27, 2010. Although the race is a fundraiser for colon cancer, Team CFCF will be raising awareness for carcinoid cancer and funds for neuroendocrine tumor (NET) research at MD Anderson. Both colon and carcinoid cancers are treated at MD Anderson in the gastroenterology department; both cancers may be detected through colonoscopies.

100% of every dollar raised goes to cutting-edge carcinoid/related NET research at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Team CFCF will be raising funds for the MD Anderson Cancer Center to participate in the CFCF Neuroendocrine Tumor Bioconsortium. This Bioconsortium will link the biobanks at five centers, which specialize in carcinoid and related NETs. A biobank is a collection of stored tissue specimens linked to a database of anonymous patient information, progression, and to test and validate hypotheses that arise from these correlations. This exciting collaboration will enable scientists to characterize specific disease pathways, uncover genetic and environmental indicators of disease, identify novel drug targets, and tailor treatment programs to the needs of patients.

Team Caring for Carcinoid Foundation

Team CFCF has set two goals for the 2010 SCOPE Race:
