Year:
2011 Mission: The mission of the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF) is to discover cures for carcinoid, pancreatic neuroendocrine, and related neuroendocrine cancers. CFCF also works to eliminate the suffering of patients, families, and caregivers affected by neuroendocrine cancers.
Purpose: The purpose of Sunflower Grants is to fund support programs for patients with neuroendocrine cancers. To qualify for a 2011 grant, programs must be designed and delivered in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Worldwide NET Cancer Awareness Day on November 10, 2011.
Program Ideas: CFCF is open to all ideas that will support patients and contribute to raising awareness of neuroendocrine cancers. We encourage creativity and focus on results. Ideas for programs include:
- Educational initiatives
- Printing costs for educational brochures/newsletters or awareness items (hats, mugs, t-shirts)
- Speaker series with scientists, clinicians or other relevant individuals
- Fundraising events to support neuroendocrine cancer research
Funding Amount: $200 - $2,000. Please note, total Sunflower Grants awarded in 2011 will not exceed $5,000.
Eligibility: All carcinoid, pancreatic neuroendocrine, and related neuroendocrine cancer patient support groups are encouraged to apply.
Selection Process: We will review all applications on a rolling basis. We will post the names of all recipients on our website. Our Board of Directors, acting in its sole discretion, will select the Sunflower Grant winners based on three criteria:
- Quality of application
- Track record of success
- Commitment to supporting the neuroendocrine cancer community
Grant Guidelines: Recipients of the 2011 Worldwide NET Awareness Day Sunflower Grants are asked to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Announcing the Sunflower Grant award from the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation
- Acknowledging CFCF as a sponsor of the project (for example, including CFCF’s logo on website, printed materials, or signage)
- Providing CFCF with a report regarding the use of funds
Announcement: The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation will announce the Sunflower Grant winners on October 21, 2011.
Confidentiality: The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation will not disclose applications to anyone outside our Board of Directors.
