How I Survive Cancer

Staying positive and finding the best Carcinoid doctors in the country to treat me (aka the "Dream Team"). After losing weight and experiencing Carcinoid symptoms for months (not know what it was), I had a CT scan done that showed Carcinoid tumors August 13, 2008. I was referred to Duke and told my only option was a liver transplant. Livers are not normally given to people that have tumors in other parts of their bodies, so I decided to get a second opinion. Through Internet research, we found the "Dream Team" in Kenner, Louisiana. I had surgery to remove my 2 primary tumors, several in the pelvis area, gall bladder and lymph nodes October 22, 2008. I'm on 60mg of Sandostatin LAR a month and currently take 500 mcgs 3x a day of the Sub q shots. We'll soon tackle the liver with a combination of treatments such as Theraspheres and MIBG.
