Caring for Carcinoid Foundation - Survivor Stories
Susie Krell

- Cancer type: Carcinoid
- Diagnosis year: 2006 November
- Home: Melbourne Florida - USA
I try to keep a good attitude and remember that my
grandmother who had it too, lived to be 94. I chose to not go see 2012, as
that was the year I was told I might make it to. It was not in my plan to
only be here till I was 58, I still have hopes of having a grandchild
someday, and my husband and I have way too many places to travel yet on my
bucket list. I do not allow myself to be satisfied with my fate. If my
doctors will not look outside the box, I will.
I still believe everything we need is here within our grasp
if we only look in the right place. So I travel and I try things that may
not be western in nature. I look at what is similar in my life and my
grandmothers, yet different from my other family members. I know that I am
living with the answer, we all are that have this, we just need to keep
digging within ourselves. My doctors sometimes feel things I do or try are
too dangerous, but why not try, they think were just going to die anyway.
Don't allow people to make you feel that you don't really have
cancer.
Just because your hair is still on your head, or your breasts still hang on
your chest, does not make your fight any less real. Let them wear Pink!
Our cancer may be slow and our symptoms varied, but I know our carcinoid
"turtles" will eventually win this race.
